Returning to an existing Mac session
Lunlo is designed for a Mac that is already signed in, running the app and showing its ordinary lock screen. A deliberate scan checks the enrolled face before the app attempts to enter the saved Mac password. By default, the development build uses a space-key or hover trigger rather than beginning a scan automatically whenever the Mac locks.
This design does not support FileVault or pre-boot login. It also does not provide the first login after a restart or access to a logged-out session. Keep normal password entry available.
Recognition and password storage stay local
The native implementation processes camera frames on the Mac. Enrollment references and the saved Mac login password use encrypted local storage, with the encryption key protected through macOS Keychain and local user authorization. Your Mac password is not an account password for this website.
Account and membership checks are a separate network flow. The app is designed to require a fresh access decision before scanning; if it cannot verify membership, it does not proceed with stored-password entry. Read how the sequence works.
Hardware is only part of compatibility
The development target is an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later, with a camera. Camera access supplies frames for enrollment and recognition. Accessibility permission allows the app to type the locally stored password. The optional Space-key trigger checks keyboard-listening access, which macOS may already satisfy through Accessibility. See the permissions guide for the separate checks.
Meeting those requirements does not establish that a particular Mac, camera or operating-system update has passed real unlock testing. The compatibility guide separates the build target from the device testing still required.
Read the preview limits before relying on it
Lunlo uses a regular RGB camera and is not Apple's Face ID. Its software liveness checks have not established resistance to printed photos or replayed video. Successful compilation and synthetic tests do not establish biometric accuracy or a successful real lock-screen unlock.
The current development app is not notarized and ships with account configuration disabled. No public trial starts from this preview. Check release status for availability, and read the recognition and liveness guide for the remaining validation work.
